I have an iPhone 4 and wish to upgrade to the iOS 7.
Shall I go ahead with it?
Letters
rajkumar menon,
on email
Technically, the iPhone 4 will officially support the iOS 7
update. While we will recommend you to update your phone
to access most of the apps (that will be updated for the iOS
7 soon), you will not get access to the features that are hard-
ware driven and meant for the iPhone 5S. Also, do keep in
mind that the OS update might slow down your phone a bit
and drain the battery much faster. You can go back to earlier

APPLE, WHErE Is my
cHEAP iPHoNE?
I have always dreamt of buying an
iPhone. But being a student, I have
never been able to afford one. But
all the buzz around a cheap iPhone
had me excited. It was hoping
Apple would finally announce
something really affordable, maybe
under
`
20,000
.
However, Apple
has disappointed me no end by an-
nouncing prices that are in no way
cheap or affordable. I guess I have
no one else to blame as Apple had
never said that it was going to an-
nounce an affordable phone. This
teaches me not to trust tech blogs
when they are speculating, espe-
cially about companies like Apple.
I am planning to buy a good Android smartphone with a superb
camera. I am confused between the Sony Xperia Z and Samsung
Galaxy S4. Which one should I buy?
Harish rawat
, on email
Both the Sony Xperia Z and Samsung Galaxy S4 have got
great cameras. Sony has an edge over the Galaxy S4 as it
is a water resistant phone and is sturdy. Also, if you are se-
rious about imaging, you can check the Samsung Galaxy
S4 Zoom that comes with a 16MP camera and a 10X opti-
cal zoom. It is undoubtedly one of the best camera phones
in the market today.

I want to buy an iPad and need to understand why hav-
ing a SIM slot is important in a tablet. Kindly revert as
it will help me decide which tablet to buy.
JANAKI A, JODHPUR
sunanda Kaushik
, on email
Apple iPad is available in different storage capacities in
two variants – Wi-Fi and Wi-Fi + 3G. The difference
between the two is that you need to always stay in a
Wi-Fi enabled zone to access Internet on the tablet.
Whereas, on the latter, other than Wi-Fi you can also
access internet through a 3G SIM. This gives you the
freedom to access almost everything on the move.
